Fall 2009 PA Elk Photo Experience

I've just returned from our Fall PA Elk Photo Experience. It was an unusual year in that it was exceptionally warm and humid. Unlike last year, bugling was only heard late at night and early in the morning when the temperature dropped a bit. It was still a great year with some great elk for viewing. To see this year's images visit Fall 2009 Pennsylvania Elk Photography Experience. When you look through these images you'll see a bull with one antler. This was the animal that was rescued from being tangled in a swing set in Benezette in August. See Bob Shank's blog for more details. I'm pleased to report that this bull seems to have recovered and seems to be doing well.

With the lack of elk activity during the midday hours we had the opportunity to spend time and learn from Ron "Buckwheat" Saffer, one of Pennsylvania's premier wildlife photographers. I also had the pleasure of meeting Willard Hill, creator of the very informative video "The Truth About Pennsylvania's Elk Herd". I highly recommend viewing this video if you want to learn the history of the PA elk herd and the current controversy regarding the elk hunt.

Want to experience PA elk first hand. Take a trip to Benezette PA to see these magnificent animals. Sign up for one of our Pennsylvania Elk Photo Experiences to photograph elk and learn more about photographing wildlife.

Willard,
Thanks for your comment. The more we can get the word out on "The Truth About Pennsylvania's Elk Herd" the better!
